How it works here

Product photo cleanup, step by step

Remove stands, hooks, loose threads, dust and props from product shots while the product edge stays crisp. Shooting a series? Clean them all with one mask.

  1. 1

    Open the product shot

Original resolution, decoded on your device.

  2. 2

    Click the stand or prop

Smart Select outlines it; the preset keeps the mask tight.

  3. 3

    Protect the product edge

Subtract any sliver of the product with a fine brush.

  4. 4

    Erase at best quality

In Best quality, native texture is restored over larger areas.

  5. 5

    Clean another

Same settings stay on for the next image, or batch the set.

The product edge is sacred

In product photography the background can be rebuilt with a little invention, but the product cannot. A softened bottle edge or a nibbled shoe sole is worse than the stand you removed. The Product preset uses Smart Select with a tight edge margin, so the mask hugs the stand and stops at the product, and Best quality, which gives the AI the widest context and puts the backdrop's native grain back over larger repairs. Every pixel outside the selection — including the entire product — is copied through untouched.

Consistency across a catalogue

A product line is usually shot in one setup: the same stand, the same position, the same sensor spot. Draw the mask once on the first image and apply it to the whole series from the Batch page, either with identical coordinates (a locked-off camera) or scaled to each image's size. Files keep their names with a suffix you choose and come back in a ZIP. Everything is processed one image at a time in your browser — which also means unreleased products never sit on someone else's server.

Listing check before you upload

The editor on this page carries a Listing check panel. It measures five things on the photo itself and marks each Pass or Fix: whether the border of the frame is pure white, how much of the frame the product fills on its longer side, whether the Text finder sees lettering, stickers or price tags, whether the longest side is at least 1000 pixels so marketplaces can offer zoom, and whether the file will be a JPEG in sRGB. Each Fix is one click: Clean backdrop turns near-white backdrop connected to the edge into pure white without touching the product, Crop to 85% crops — never resizes — until the product fills the frame, and the Listing export preset saves a full-size sRGB JPG. It never upscales: a photo under 1000 pixels is reported as such. These checks follow published guidance as of October 2026; marketplaces change their rules, so check the seller help pages before listing.

Clean, then publish

Export at original resolution as JPG for the web or PNG for further work. Metadata is removed by default; if you keep it, location data stays off unless you explicitly include it.

Good to know

Questions

Can I use it for product photos?
Yes — the Product preset uses Smart Select with a tight mask and the highest quality mode, so stands, hooks, threads and dust go while the product edge stays crisp.
Will the Listing check get my photo approved by a marketplace?
It cannot promise that. It measures the photo against common published image guidance — white backdrop, product fill, no text or stickers, at least 1000 px, JPEG in sRGB — and shows Pass or Fix for each. Marketplaces change their rules, so check the seller help pages before listing.
Can I clean many images?
Yes, when the same thing sits in the same place — a fixed studio stand, a sensor spot, your own overlay. Draw the mask once and apply it to a whole set, or review them one by one, then download a ZIP. It all runs in this tab.
Does the rest of the image change?
No. Only pixels inside the (slightly expanded) selection are replaced. Every other pixel is copied through exactly; the photo is not resized or regenerated, and the only re-encoding is the one you choose when you save.
What is the maximum image size?
Photos up to 24 megapixels are edited at full resolution on a computer (12 on iPhone and iPad). Larger photos — up to 120 megapixels — are offered as a lighter working copy, and the export dialog says so before you save.
What image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP and AVIF where your browser can decode it, plus HEIC and TIFF through decoders that run on the device (TIFF: 8- or 16-bit greyscale, RGB or palette; uncompressed, LZW, PackBits or Deflate). You can save as PNG, JPG, WebP, or AVIF where the browser can write it.
Does EraseObject upload my photos?
No. The photo is decoded, edited and exported inside your browser. There is no upload endpoint on this site. What the site does download is AI model files — those travel to you; your photo never travels anywhere.
