EraseObjectErase an object

Privacy

EraseObject downloads its AI model files to your browser and runs them there; the photo you open is decoded, edited and exported on your device and is never uploaded.

The short version

  • Your photos, selections, masks, results and history are processed in your browser and are never sent to us or anyone else.
  • The site downloads AI model files to your browser. Those requests ask for a file by name; they carry nothing about your photo.
  • There is no account, no sign-in and no cloud history.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics is set up for this site but switched off at the moment, so no visit is tallied.
  • There are no ads.
  • Projects are saved only if you choose “Save project on this device”, and then only in your own browser's storage.

What happens to a photo you open

The file is read into the memory of the browser tab. Decoding, every selection tool, every AI model, compositing and the final encoding into a download all happen there. There is no upload endpoint on this website — no server route exists that could receive an image. When you close or reload the tab, the photo and everything you did to it are gone from memory.

Model downloads

To run AI on your device, the browser needs the model files. Each is fetched from this domain the first time you use the feature that needs it — never before — after the editor has shown you its size. Files are verified against a published fingerprint and kept in your browser's Cache Storage so they are not downloaded again. You can see and remove them at any time from the editor's AI performance panel. The files are:

  • Eraser AI: migan-512.onnx, 26,639,447 bytes (25.4 MB, MIT)
  • Smart Select — image analysis: mobilesam-encoder.onnx, 28,016,464 bytes (26.7 MB, Apache-2.0)
  • Smart Select — mask decoder: mobilesam-decoder.onnx, 16,496,934 bytes (15.7 MB, Apache-2.0)
  • People finder: modnet.onnx, 25,888,640 bytes (24.7 MB, Apache-2.0)
  • AI engine (CPU): ort-wasm-simd-threaded.wasm, 14,239,897 bytes (13.6 MB, MIT)
  • AI engine (GPU): ort-wasm-simd-threaded.asyncify.wasm, 26,781,914 bytes (25.5 MB, MIT)

Saved projects (optional)

If you choose to save a project, the photo, its edit history and your export settings are written to this browser's IndexedDB storage on your device. They are not synchronised or uploaded. You can rename, duplicate or delete them in the Projects panel, or clear them all at once; clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes them too.

Preferences

A few interface preferences — mask colour, quality mode, whether you have seen the introduction, dark workspace — are stored in your browser's local storage. They contain nothing about any photo.

Visit statistics

EraseObject is set up to use Cloudflare Web Analytics, run by Cloudflare, the company that also hosts the site, but it is switched off at the moment: no statistics script loads and no visit is tallied. Once it is switched on, its small script will load only on the live site at eraseobject.com — never on a saved copy of a page, a preview build or a local copy — and will report, for each page view, the page address, the page you came from, your browser and operating system type, your approximate country and how long the page took to load. It sets no cookies, uses no local storage and does not follow you to other websites. This page will say so when it is on.

Whatever the statistics see, they never include your photo, its file name, a selection or mask, a generated patch, detected text, a person crop or any metadata from your image. The editor has no code that could send them.

Advertising

There are no ads on EraseObject, and no advertising script or advertising cookie is loaded.

Contact form

If you write to us through the contact page, the name, email and message you type are sent to a Google Form so a person can read and answer them. Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent until you press the button.

Hosting

The site is static files served by Cloudflare. As with any website, the host processes your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and files you ask for.
